About Me

Hi there,

my name is Taimour (pronunciation: ‘Taimoor’) (pronouns: he/him) and I am a facilitator and project manager, who specialises in curriculum development and delivery for social change projects. In addition, I also serve as a researcher and lived experience consultant/advisor for various research and delivery projects.

A lived experience advocate, I specialise in subjects that explore mental health at the intersection of key identity markers such as class, race & gender identity.

My work in mental health is rooted in using a community-based approach through mediums such as peer support.

Alongside my stand-alone projects in partnership with organisations such as Taraki and Spark & Co, I am also the founder of Expert By Experience. Expert By Experience is a community-led organisation that looks at mental health in South Asian communities.

What I do

Project Management

I am a project manager who has a track record of managing complex social change projects. A keen enthusiast for detail, I always ensure that project deliverables are met with integrity.

Curriculum Development & Facilitation

A facilitator at heart, this is one of the first skills I developed & crafted in my journey. I offer facilitation on a wide range of subjects such as mental health, climate change & research purposes i.e. roundtables. Additionally, I also specialise in curriculum development and delivery for social change projects.

Consultancy

Having worked on a grassroots level for close to a decade, I also serve as a consultant and lived experience advisor across multiple projects such as PHD research projects to charity research projects.

Research

A firm believer of the motto ‘nothing about us without us’, I also serve as a qualitative research for projects specifically aimed at racialised communities.

‘Mental health does not exist in a vacuum and my aim is to contextualise mental health in relation to all the specific nuances that impact various communities using a community-based model.’

Written Pieces

I’ve been writing about mental health since 2014. In my vast written portfolio, I’ve explored subjects such as body image, gut health & gender identity at the intersection of mental health.

Curriculum Development & Facilitation

I have been holding space as a facilitator for quite a few years now - online and in-person. I have facilitated spaces on subjects such as body image, mental health and creative expression through art. However, in recent years I have grown into developing and delivering curriculums, mainly on how to become a facilitator.

Research

I come from a data background in my ‘day job’ in a previous. As such I have a deep passion for research whether it’s quantitative or qualitative. My work in research has the central aim of informing and engaging racialised communities and grassroots organisations alike. Client Testimonials

Micky Khurana

Head of Regional Ethics & Compliance EMEA, Meta

“Taimour and I connected online (Facebook, naturally) after I read his blog on body image from a South Asian perspective. A lot in there resonated with me, and so I invited him to have a fireside chat with South Asian employees at Meta London. I found him challenging, engaging, and incredibly perceptive. He brought compassion to everything he spoke to, and was driven by a deep desire to improve people's lives. I could not recommend him working with him enough.”

Laura Carter

Senior Researcher, Public Sector Algorithms, Ada Lovelace Institute

“Taimour facilitated a thoughtful, sensitive and in-depth session at our staff retreat. He helped us think through different aspects of our own identity, and how that affects how we see the world, which is crucial for our work at a research institute.”

Vibs Bhatia

Senior Consultant, Climate Change and Sustainability Services, Ernst & Young LLP

“In 2022, I had the pleasure to work with Taimour on introducing eco-anxiety safe spaces in EY’s internal Eco-Innovators colleague network. We ran 10 pilot sessions, engaging over 100 colleagues and creating a community space where they felt safe to share their worries and concerns, free of judgment. Additional to this, Taimour created a 4-week training course specific to Eco-Anxiety, for a handful of volunteers to be able to facilitate and hold relevant safe-spaces to support colleagues. His professionalism, support and delivery of sessions were flawless throughout our time working together. Taimour’s empathy and ability to communicate was exemplary, and showed the power and impact of being able to hold space for everyone’s challenges. The climate crisis is taking a toll on differing demographic groups, and this became apparent when speaking with colleagues situated in different parts of the world. Taimour was able to navigate through and connect with colleagues in every conversation and engagement, irrespective of their cultural background and language diversities. He was a real asset and we’re so grateful to have had his expertise and time.”
